Overview
This article explains how to add graphic objects, callouts, text, text boxes, and sticky notes to a PDF using PDF-XChange Editor.
Ensure the Comment Toolbar Is Visible
Before adding any objects:
Open your PDF in PDF-XChange Editor.
Click the Comment tab on the top menu to display the Comment toolbar.
Adding a Graphic Object (Arrow, Line, Shape, etc.)
On the Comment toolbar, click the object you want to use (for example: Arrow, Line, Rectangle, etc.).
Click and drag in the document where you want the object to appear.
Release the mouse button once the object is the desired size.
Edit Object Style
To change the appearance (color, thickness, etc.):
Right-click the tool on the toolbar.
Select Show Comments Styles Palette.
Adjust the style settings as needed.
Adding a Callout Bubble
On the Comment toolbar, click the Callout Tool.
Click the location in the document where you want the arrow to point.
Hold down the left mouse button and drag to where you want the text bubble to appear.
Release the mouse button.
Type the desired text inside the bubble.
Adding Text (Typewriter Tool)
On the Comment toolbar, click the Typewriter Tool.
Click in the document where you want to place the text.
Type your desired text.
Edit Text Appearance
To modify font, size, or style:
Double-click the text to activate it.
Highlight the text.
Right-click and select Text Style.
Alternatively, use the Format toolbar to adjust font type and size.
Adding a Text Box
On the Comment toolbar, click the Text Box Tool.
Click and hold the left mouse button in the document.
Drag the mouse until the text box is the desired size.
Release the mouse button and type your text.
Adding a Sticky Note
On the Comment toolbar, select the Sticky Note Tool.
Click in the document where you want the note to appear.
A note window will open. Type your message in the box.
Click the X in the upper-right corner to close the note window.
To reopen the sticky note, double-click the note icon in the document.
Additional Notes
All added objects can be moved by clicking and dragging them after placement.
You can delete an object by selecting it and pressing the Delete key.
Style changes can be set before or after placing the object.
