Federal W-4

Purpose: The purpose of this document is to give Team Members an overview of the LKC New Hire Portal Federal W-4 screen and guide you with for the on-boarding process.

About LKC New Hire Portal: This website is created for Keeley new hires and Managers to easily walk through and complete the onboarding forms within the LKC New Hire Portal. Once completed, the information will be sent into our HR System, Sage People and then will transfer into our Accounting System, Sage 300 CRE.

Who is this for: Team Members

PLEASE NOTE: Any questions pertaining to how to complete this form should be directed to the Payroll and HR Teams.

 

After selecting No and clicking Next on the previous “Team Member” screen you will be redirected to the Federal W-4 form screen below.


INSTRUCTIONS:  At the top of the screen you can click on instructions and it will open a page with instructions on how to complete the Federal W-4

Step 1:  Enter Personal Information

  • Your information is pre-populated from the Team Member Screen
  • Instructions are at the top and bottom of the screen
  • “Single or Married filing separately” is the default value and will be selected unless the employee chooses another option.

Step 2:  Multiple Jobs or Spouse Works

  • Only complete Step 2 if you (1) hold more than one job at a time, or (2) are married filing jointly and your spouse also works.
  • Choose one of the options:  a, b, c to calculate the correct amount of withholding

  • If you choose (b) to scroll down to Step 4, line (b) Deductions click on “Help Me Calculate” which will pop-up a new window to help you calculate the amount

 

Step 3:  Claim Dependents

  • The total number of qualifying children entered in the first box will be automatically calculated in the line below
  • The total number of other dependents entered will automatically be calculated below
  • The two calculated values will be automatically populated below the “other dependents” calculation


Step 4 (optional): Other Adjustments

  • This section is optional
  • a) Enter other income (not from jobs).
  • b) Claim additional deductions.
    1. Click on “Help Me Calculate” to bring up a pop-up window to help the employee calculate additional deductions
  • c) Enter extra withholdings.

Step 5: Sign Here

  • Employer’s signature is required
  • Enter First Date of Employment, Today’s Date and click Next which will bring the state selection w-4 screen.
