Permissions and Access Needed: Intune Admin Access 

Intention: To Train Help Desk users to Track and Locate physical assets using Intune functionality


  1. Open up Intune (https://intune.microsoft.com/?ref=AdminCenter#home) as an admin this will open the Below Page
  2. Select "Devices" from the Side list, and then "All Devices"
  3. Enter your Criteria in the Search Bar (Phone Number, User Name, Serial Number, IMEI, ICCID, etc) and then select it from the list
  4. Make sure the device is under corporate ownership otherwise it cannot be tracked,
  5. If the Device is not Corporate, please hit "properties" and select the ownership which needs to be "corporate"
  6. Select Lost Mode from the list of options at the top of each intune entry to put the device in lost mode, allowing it to be tracked. 
  7. Once Device is in Lost Mode, you can Hit Locate Device. Locate Device will ping the location. Note: If the device is off, it will not locate until powered on. If the device has no power or is destroyed it will not track (Chicago seems to be the default start, so if it immediately routes to Illinois' "Capital" that is fine.
