If the user has a request for both an iPhone and iPad, always set the phone up first.


Prior to Turning the New iPad On

  • Make sure the user has an iPhone first, or, reach out to the user to get their personal phone number so the iCloud account can be set up.
  • Have a copy of the Apple Device Checklist (attached Apple Device Set Up Checklist.docxprinted and ready.
  • Make sure the new hire has an AD account, email, and password created
  • The user must have both E3 licenses (Enterprise Mobility + Security E3 and Office 365 E3)
  • Before starting, make sure the user has TAPs enabled and written down or saved in the ticket.
  • Write down the user's email, password, and their TAPs
  • Finally, it is always best and fastest to put the case on immediately after opening the iPad box and removing the screen cover.


Powering On the iPad

  • After removing from the box and peeling off the screen's protective sticker, turn on the iPad by pressing and holding its power button until you see a white Apple logo.


iPad Set Up

  • When you see "Hello" in many different languages, swipe up on the tablet.
  • Choose your language, always English unless specified.
  • Select United States as the Country or Region.
  • On the Appearance screen, tap Continue.
  • On the next screen, at the bottom of Quickly Set Up iPad, choose Set Up Without Another Device. You can use an already set up iPad to set up the iPad, as long as the New Hire needs both.
  • Next, choose your WiFi network. Choose KeeleyCompanies as default.
  • The password is K331eyC0mp@nies. It will take a few moments for the iPad to activate. When the activation is complete, tap Continue.
  • Under Data & Privacy, tap Continue.
  • When the Remote Management screen comes up, choose Enroll this iPad. This will take a minute or two to complete.
  • Choose an iPad Passcode. It must be 6 digits. Make sure this is put onto the New Hire's Cover Sheet (attached Template.docx) and is not lost.
  • Agree to Terms and Conditions.
  • Tap Continue on Update Your iPad Automatically.
  • Choose Turn on Location Services on the Location Services screen.
  • On the Welcome to iPad screen, tap Get Started.


iPad Home Screen

  • On the Welcome to iPad screen, swipe up.
  • Tap the Comp Portal app icon to launch Company Portal if it hasn't auto launched within 5-10 seconds.
  • Choose the Sign In button to move forward.
  • Sign in to Company Portal with the new hire's Keeley email and TAPs. 
  • On any notification in Company Portal, always choose Allow.
  • Tap OK.
  • Tap Begin. It will take up to 30 seconds. Then, tap Continue. This section could take a while as it checks the device's settings. Select Done.


When it pops up to sign into iCloud to download Keeley managed apps, keep tapping Cancel.


Microsoft Authenticator

  • Swipe up and find the Authenticator app and launch it. 
  • On the first screen, tap Continue
  • Choose Add work or school account.
  • Then, choose Continue. Enter your passcode. 
  • Tap Allow. Tap Done
  • Go into your Keeley account at the top to make sure you have the 6-digit blue number.


Set Up Microsoft Outlook and Teams

  • Tap the Outlook icon to launch Microsoft Outlook.
  • Choose Add Account.
  • The account you are adding should be shown near the top of the screen. Select Add Account. You may have to type in their email address if it isn't there already.
  • Tap Maybe Later.
  • Emails will start to load in. When the Enable Notifications selection pops up, choose Turn On and then Allow.
  • Swipe up and open the Teams app.
  • Tap the email address of the account you want to set up.
  • Tap Allow when the notifications dialog box pops up.
  • Tap Next 2 times, then Got it, and then choose Allow While Using App. Tap OK.


iCloud Set Up (Steps are different when it is a replacement device)

  • Open the iPad's Settings app.
  • Choose the Apple Account option at the top left.
  • Tap the Don't have an Apple account link at the bottom of the page.
  • Choose Adult. Enter their First and Last Names. Tap the Add button next to Birthday and change only the year to 1999, 2000, or any similar year. It will not be their correct birthday, that is okay.
  • Turn the Announcements toggle to off and tap the Don't have an email address link.
  • Select Get an iCloud Email Address.
  • Type in the email you want and choose Continue. It is the first dot last name dot company name. This is an example format for John Smith in Keeley Construction, or, Jane Doe in Milling Services, or Jenny Rogers in Keeley Properties: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]).
  • Tap Create Email Address.
  • Type in the same password as the 10-digit password that is being used for the new hire's Keeley account. For existing users without an Apple device, create a random 10-digit password.
  • Put in the user's phone number, choose Text Message to verify and tap Continue. If an existing user, tap Didn't get a code, choose Verify Later, and tap Continue.
  • Tap Agree to the terms and conditions.
  • It will ask for this device's passcode to get signed in. Provide and then select Continue.


App Downloads

  • Go to the Apple App Store. Tap Continue. Tap Don't Allow.
  • Tap the search bar, search and download the following apps, you will need your password one more time. Choose Require After 15 Minutes. After your next app, choose Save:
    • Microsoft OneDrive
    • Construct Crew Time - Legacy
    • Construct Approvals
    • Download any Microsoft applications requested to be installed on their laptop (like Visio, Planner, CoPilot, PowerBI, etc).
  • Once apps are downloaded, go ahead and open the OneDrive app. It will automatically sign in.
  • Now that all apps are installed, you can shut the tablet down
