Description: Mimecast is a cloud-based email management system.

Use of the add in: Quick release of miscategorized spam, permitting contacts to prevent accidental blocking, seeing bounced or rejected messages in real time.

If you do not have the Mimecast Outlook add in and would like it installed, please contact the Service Desk.

Open Outlook and look at the top left tabs. Find, and click, Mimecast.

 


The search button will take you to the next screen, which has everything you would need.

 


Bounces & Rejections:

Bounces show you messages that have been accepted by Mimecast but were not delivered due to a number of reasons. In the message properties, you can see why it has bounced. If you believe it was in error, the first step is to make sure the email is in the permitted senders. Second is to reach out to the Service Desk.

Rejections are typically because Mimecast detects a potential threat in the email you are sending or detects that it is a recipient that does not exist. Double check what you are sending & the recipient. Let the Service Desk know if you think this was in error. 



Managed Senders

Blocked are email addresses you have blocked via Right Click > Junk > Block Sender.

Permitted are emails you have added. In the Permitted tab, you can +Add Permitted. You can add the whole email address, or everything after the @ symbol. The latter will allow anyone from that particular company to email you without issue.

Auto Permitted are emails auto allowed by Mimecast via set up by IT.
