Issue: Some users may experience their macOS device freezing when waking from sleep, especially when Zscaler is enabled. This issue has been observed to persist until Zscaler is turned off.

Cause: A potential conflict between Zscaler and Cisco AnyConnect VPN adapters appears to be the cause. Specifically, if Cisco AnyConnect adapters are still enabled on the device, they can interfere with Zscaler's normal operation.

Steps to Resolve:

  1. Check for VPN Adapters:

    • Open your macOS Network settings (System Preferences > Network).
    • Look for any Cisco AnyConnect VPN adapters that are still enabled.
  2. Disable Cisco AnyConnect Adapters:

    • Select the Cisco VPN adapter from the list.
    • Click the minus (-) button at the bottom of the list to remove the adapter.
    • Alternatively, if you don't want to remove the adapter completely, you can disable it by selecting the adapter and clicking "Turn Off."
  3. Uninstall Cisco AnyConnect (Recommended):

    • To completely avoid future conflicts, uninstall Cisco AnyConnect using the Cisco Uninstall Utility, which can be found in the AnyConnect installation package.
    • Restart your device after uninstallation.
  4. Test the System:

    • After disabling or uninstalling Cisco AnyConnect, verify that the device resumes normal operation when waking from sleep.
