If you're traveling or working from a different location, your laptop may show the wrong time. Follow these steps to adjust your time zone—even without admin rights.


🔍 Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Open Settings

    • Press Windows key + I

    • Or click the Start menu and select Settings

  2. Go to Time & Language

    • In the sidebar, click Time & language

  3. Select Date & Time

  4. Check Time Zone Settings

    • If “Set time zone automatically” is ON, your device should update based on your location.

      • âś… If time is correct: You're all set!

      • ❌ If it's wrong: Proceed to step 5.

  5. Turn OFF “Set time zone automatically”
    (You may or may not be able to toggle this depending on your organization's settings.)

  6. Change the Time Zone

    • If unlocked, you’ll see a Time zone dropdown menu.

    • Click it and choose your correct time zone.


⚠️ Can't Change It?

If the time zone is grayed out or locked:

  • Your organization may control this setting.

  • Submit a request to the IT Service Desk with the following info:

    • Your current physical location

    • Your network username 

    • A screenshot of your Date & Time settings (optional)
