To avoid performance issues, license lockouts, or stuck sessions, always log off properly when you're done working on a remote server.
π§ Applies To:
Remote Desktop (RDP)
Any shared Windows server-based desktop
β Correct Way to Log Out
Click the Start Menu
(Bottom-left or top-left of your session window)Select Your Profile Icon
Click "Sign out"
β Do NOT:
-
Close the window or click the X in the top corner
This only disconnects your session β it does NOT log you out.
-
Shut down or restart the server
If you're in a shared environment, this affects everyone using it.
